Description
Fern-like perennial with a rhizome that looks like a string of beads. Flowers top stalks during its fertile stage, and the leaves are sharp-toothed ringed leaf sheaths that occur along a bamboo-like stalk. During the infertile stage, leaves are needle-like in whorls.
