Description

Climbing, vine-like bush with tight, white flowers. Shiny, pointed, thick leaves come in 3 pairs. Blooms: June-October. Height: Up to 40 feet




Common Uses

Jasmine is used widely in Asia to treat coughs and lung ailments, and also helps calm nerves. It is also used to help cleanse the kidneys and fight viral infections.




History

Persians designated jasmine "King of flowers" to rule alongside the rose, "Queen of Flowers." Ancient Persian and Indian women used the oil as a perfume and hair scent. In Buddhist ceremonies, jasmine garlands symbolize respect.
