Description
Annual with flowers shooting out in terminal spikes with leafy bracts. Flowers are white or purple with yellow spots or stripes. Leaves are stiff, ovate, pointy, and small. It produces seeds with many ribs from small, flattened capsules. Height: 2-8 inches. Blooms: July-September.
Common Uses
Antibacterial and a liver stimulant, eyebright is also astringent. Eyebright contains vitamins A, C, D, E, and several of the B vitamins. It is an antioxidant, cleanses and purifies the blood, and stimulates a healthy liver function.
History
The healing power of Eyebright for the eyes is thought to extend to spiritual and psychic vision. It's much used today as a Visionary Herb, and in psychic balance for its ability to bring the practitioner the ability to see life as joyous.
