Description

Taproot sends up single stalk up to 3 feet; terminal umbel flowers, yellow with tiny petals. It produces great quantities of small, flattened, elliptical, ribbed seeds 1/6 of an inch long. Blooms July-September.




Common Uses

Dill seed improves digestion and appetite. The oil kills bacteria and relieves flatulence. The herb helps relax the smooth muscles of the digestive tract.




History

Dill was once used to induce sleep and was believed to have been a charm against witches. It was also a crown for returning soldiers in ancient Rome and Greece.
