Description

A low trailing shrub, cranberry grows in open bogs and swamps and on wet shores. It flowers from June to August and fruits from September to November.




Common Uses

The common cranberry is one of nature's best weapons against cystitis and urinary tract infections. For years, doctors have routinely advised patients to drink cranberry juice to prevent urinary infections.




History

Some Native American tribes dried the berries and strung them into necklaces. They also used them as a dye and poultice. Cranberries were even used as a form of currency in some tribes.
