Burdock

Description
Coarse plant with many branches, each stem has a bristly flower with is actually a clump of small, purplish red blossoms in an armored burr. It has large, wavy, egg-shaped leaves. It grows up to 6 feet and blooms in summer.
Common Uses
Used often in blood purifying formulas, and to cleanse the body of uric acid and other residues accumulating from rheumatism and arthritis. Tests have confirmed that burdock kills both bacterial and fungal infections. It is very high in chromium, iron, magnesium, silicon, and thiamine.
History
Shakespeare uses burdock in his plays to symbolize lack of fortune. During World War I in England, citizens were urged to grow burdock to restock the country's exhausted medicinal supply.
