Description
Yellow dock is a common weed, found nearly world-wide. It quickly inhabits cultivated ground and grows along road sides producing copious quantities of seed each fall.
Common Uses
Yellow dock has the reputation of being a liver tonic, gall bladder tonic, and the best organic source of iron available. The root has diuretic properties, increasing urine production and elimination of toxins via the urinary system. It can be used for gout, cystitis, water retention, and urinary stones and gravel.
History
During the 19th century, it gained popularity as a remedy for jaundice and as a tonic to the liver and gall bladder. Yellow dock has since been included in nearly all herbal liver remedies.
