Description

Yarrow has low growing leaves with straight flower stalks, and a height of up to 3 feet and a width of up to 1 foot. The flowers are tight groups of tiny, 1/4-inch white flowers, clustered in 3-inch umbels on stiff, upright stems.




Common Uses

Due to the flavonoids they contain, yarrow flowers encourage circulation, lower blood pressure, and help stop bleeding anywhere in the body. It also helps relieve urinary tract infections and stones.




History

Yarrow is one of a handful of plants called "allheal" in the English herbal tradition. In America, it is the "life medicine" and general panacea of the Navajos.
