Description

Creeping herb with pale pink flowers shaped as elongated tubes and small, oval, dark green shiny leaves. Evergreen. Fruit is a double red or white berry. Height: 4 inches. Blooms: June and July




Common Uses

Squaw vine is used primarily in the treatment of women's health issues, such as uterine hemorrhaging, heavy menstruation, painful periods, promoting easy labor, preventing miscarriage, toning the female reproductive system, among many others. Squaw vine was listed in the U.S. National Formulary from 1926-1947 for treating uterine problems.




History

Traditionally used by Native Americans to reduce fever, prevent miscarriages, promote easy labor, and for many other female health issues. Appeared in the U.S. National Formulary from 1926-1947 for treating uterine problems.
