Description

Low growing evergreen plant with wriggly-looking stems that trail along the ground. Flowers are in terminal clusters on long stalks and may be white or pink. It produces globe-shaped capsules containing many seeds and grows up to 10 inches. Blooms: May-August.




Common Uses

Pipsissewa has many uses related to urinary health. It is used internally for kidney infections, prostate health, urethritis, kidney stones, and cystitis. It increases urine flow, stimulating the removal of waste products from the body.




History

A woodland wildflower, it has been an ingredient in popular soft drinks for decades. Its name means "to love winter," which is appropriate for a plant in leaf year-round.
