Description
English pennyroyal: Tall groundcover with a height of 1 foot and a width of 1 foot. The flowers are pale purple, grouped in whorls on upper top of short flowering stalks. The leaves are dark green and slightly hairy.
Common Uses
It has been taken to relieve headaches, indigestion, congestion from colds, and menstrual pain. Hot pennyroyal tea is one of the best herbs to produce sweating and reduce a fever. The leaves of pennyroyal are nervine, diaphoretic, and antiseptic, used for colds, fevers, headaches, and sunstroke. History
Folk healers in America recommended aromatic pennyroyal garlands for headache and dizziness. After the Civil War, the Eclectics adopted it as a stimulant, fever treatment, digestive aid, and menstruation promoter.
